Something’s Growing…

According to my memory, the Henry Hudson Bridge has been under construction since I moved to Manhattan, now more than two years ago. On one of my favorite walking routes through my neighborhood forest, I pass under it and marvel at how individual sections of the bridge are, at any given time, suspended in midair. It’s stunning. I can’t imagine many of the people who cross it each day are aware of that fact, but for those in close proximity, looking from the right angle, something is apparent: it gets by with a little help from its [engineer] friends. I feel that.

I’ve not been able to publish “here” of late: time outside work goes predominantly to Sarah and the Seed (and doctor appointments + physical therapy — an entry for another time):

Tomorrow, a Team of talented artists will gather at The Theater Center to work through some songs JW and I wrote together; a week later these artists will debut a reading of a musical we’ve dreamed and discussed for years, inspired by a comic. (Coincidentally, our reading will rehearse in the same room where School of Rock held court during its multi-year run across Broadway at the Winter Garden – with some of the very same actors now running our material.)

Tonight’s the last night the piece is only “ours”: tomorrow begins its next, necessary chapter – with a little help from our friends. (Let’s be real: A LOT of help from our friends.) We can’t f*cking wait.
